That evening, the group gets ready for the exchange. They arrive early and scope the place out. Vane’s meeting place is an intersection in the currently abandoned section of the Berlin warehouse district.
A few minutes before the appointed hour two cars pull up and Vane exits along with four of his largest and meanest looking friends. Between the thugs is an alive, but roughed up and terrified Ernest Traube. Vane nods in your direction, but seems to be waiting for someone else. A moment later another a military jeep pulls up and a pale disheveled man steps out along with four Hydra guards.
The meeting area has the Abandoned and Covered in Shadows Aspect
Preparing for the worst Jiri Czerny headed up on top of one of the buildings to try and get a clear view of the whole thing, however, because he has Friends in all the Wrong Places when he gets to the top he sees that Anezka Czerny is already there.
Being the Cold Man of Steel that he is, William Derschowitz walks right up to the Hydra party and says “Let’s get this over with”. Before William can react the pale man pulls out a syringe and injects him with a dark green liquid, winks at him and says “Just something for the trip”. Almost immediately he can feel it begin to burn it’s way through his ribs wracking him with pain.
Just as it seemed that things might go more or less according to plan a cold wind blows down the road, shivering you all turn and see Father Black walking down the road towards you. Once the gust blows by a surprisingly high pitched squeak draws your attention back to the exchange where the pale man has jumped back to get away from a massive black hound with molten red eyes. Vane begins screaming that you will regret crossing him and grabs Ernest.
The party is able to calm Father Black and Vane down and they continue with the deal. William gets into the truck, is handcuffed to the seat and it drives off. Vane hand over Ernest and drives off while everyone but Piotr rush over and try to figure out what Father Black was playing at. The priest restates that he can’t allow Hydra to get William. He seems pretty confused why the party was letting them get William.
At this point Alistair Windsor challenges Father Black to do something to stop them and with a somewhat pained look Father Black turns to the truck and everyone sees it make a sharp turn and drive straight into a building. Alistair and Philippe turn and begin running towards the crash while Piotr stays behind to make sure Ernest stays safe. While he is keeping an eye on Ernest, Piotr notices that the priest seems to fade into nothing once the others being to run towards the crash.
Inside the truck Johnny Skinner tries to poison William again because he notices that he was able to fight it off, however, William is able to break free from his chains and makes a break for it before the doctor can inject him. Skinner and his goons give chase and Skinner is able to catch up to William before he reaches his friends. In the struggle that ensues Skinner pulls out his last vial of poison and manages to inject William just as the rest of the group arrives.
William spends most of his time fighting off the effects of the poison when not dodging the attacks of the doctor. Once Alistair and Philippe arrive they are able to scare off the Hydra mooks and through judicious application of The Ruby Seal Alistair proves too much for Skinner who beats a hasty retreat, but not before he get a sample of Williams blood!
The next day, after they get Ernest back home safe and sound they decide to look up Father Black again and try to get to the bottom of what’s going on. They find him in his room in the sewers. He promises to let them know when he gets a solid lead on Hydra and in the meantime offers to teach Alistair a little about Geomancy.
William’s compel will leave him with situation aspect of poisoned with one free invoke for me.
Poison works like this:
The poison is treated like a character, it has stress and a Toxicity. In this case it has three ‘1’ stress boxes and a toxicity at good. On it’s turn it will roll it’s toxicity as an Attack action defended by Physique. William or someone else can try to treat it with Lore, or he an try to ‘sweat it out’ and Attack it with Physique vs Toxicity.
